2024 – The Year That Was: As we embark on the year 2025, Reflecting on the significant Strides

January 9, 2025

As we embark on the year 2025, we reflect on the significantstrides we made in 2024. It was a year marked by remarkable growth, resilience, and impact, as we collaborated closely with smallholder farmers to transform agriculturein Uganda and across Africa. Here are some highlights from our journey, categorized under key themes that shaped our work:

Building Equity

We believe every farmer deserves to succeed. In 2024, we worked tirelessly to create opportunities for women, youth, and farmers in remote areas to thrive. By partnering with community leaders, we brought training programs to farmers in remote villages, ensuring no one was left behind. These efforts have helped build a more inclusive and equitable farming community.

Accessing Affordable Credit

Access to affordable credit is a significant challenge for smallholder farmers. Our Save-to-Buy (*284*43#) system continued to empower farmers in 2024, allowing them make micro payments for inputs instead of getting them on credit. This approach helped farmers grow their businesses without falling into debt.

Addressing Barriers to Development

Farming comes with its share of challenges, from unpredictable weather to outdated farming methods. Last year, we provided practical solutions to help farmers overcome these barriers. To combat erratic weather patterns, we trained farmers in climate-smart practices like mulching and water conservation. By providing drought-resistant seeds, we helped farmers to mitigate the effects of dry spells and maintain steady crop production.

Empowering Youth

Young people are the future of agriculture, and in 2024, we worked to make farming attractive and profitable for them. Through education, technology, and events, we inspired the next generation of farmers. Our annualfootball tournament fostered community spirit and introduced youth to AgroSupply's programs, showing them that farming can be both a business and alifestyle.

Improving FoodSecurity

Food security is at the heart of our mission. Last year, we worked to ensure that farmers could grow more food and store it properly to reduce waste. To help farmers overcome the challenges posed by unpredictable weather patterns, we promoted the use of drought-resistant seed varieties. In the different regions of Uganda, these seeds enabled farmers to better withstand dry spells, safeguard their harvests, and improve their food security. Specifically designed to thrive in harsh conditions, these seeds ensure that farmers can maintain stable crop yields even during drought periods.

IncreasingAgricultural Productivity and Income

At the core of everything we do is the goal of helping farmers grow more and earn more. Last year, we celebrated numerous success stories where farmers' hard work paid off. Our participation in trade shows showcased our services to new communities, allowing us to reach more farmers and help them succeed.
