“Our harvests used to be small, andwe struggled to make ends meet,” shares Achipa Ester from Oliling Village,Napak District. “I would plant seeds, hope for the best, and still end up withonly a few bags. It was frustrating, and I didn’t see a way forward.”

Like many smallholder farmers in hercommunity, Achipa relied on traditional seeds and practices. From half an acreof maize, she could barely harvest 3 to 4 bags, not enough to sell orsave, and certainly not enough to invest in tools or education. Farming washard work, yet the rewards were minimal, leaving her with limited opportunitiesfor her family’s future.

In 2024, Achipa joined AgroSupply, and her life began to change. “I was excited when I learned aboutthe training and access to quality seeds. I thought, maybe this time, thingscould be different,” she recalls. Through Agro Supply, she gained practical guidanceon land preparation, planting, crop care, and post-harvest handling. She alsolearned how to manage her farm efficiently to maximize yields.

The results were immediate andtransformative. From half an acre of maize, Achipa harvested 11 bags,nearly three times her previous yield. With the proceeds from her sale, shepurchased a maize threshing machine, which not only increased herproductivity but also became a source of income for her neighbours. She alsoused part of the money to pay for her children’s education, opening doors thatonce seemed impossible.

“Seeing the results of my work givesme confidence and pride. I can provide for my family and even help mycommunity,” Achipa says with a smile.

Today, Achipa’s story is not justabout farming — it’s about empowerment and opportunity. By embracingmodern practices and making smart financial decisions, she has transformed herlivelihood, inspired other farmers in Napak, and shown that determinationcombined with support can turn dreams into reality.
